Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
122 AM PST Fri Feb 6 2026

.KEY MESSAGES...

* Light showers will continue to move through the area with the
higher terrain of southeastern California and southern Nevada
  having the best precipitation chances.

* A pattern shift will bring cooling temperatures and unsettled
weather to the region next week.

.DISCUSSION...through Thursday.

Light showers will continue to work their way north through our
forecast area this morning into the afternoon. So far, the dry low-
levels of the atmosphere have done a good job at inhibiting
precipitation from making it the ground as the sensors at the
Lake Havasu City and Needles airports are the only weather
stations to report any type of precipitation, with light rain
being briefly reported at Lake Havasu and a trace of precipitation
occurring at Needles. Outside of a car wash being ruined by some
sprinkles, impacts will be minimal from this precipitation. As
these showers continue to move north, we will see clouds begin to
gradually clear behind it with sunny to mostly sunny skies across
our southern zones this afternoon. Weak ridging will set up over
the area over the weekend, persisting into early next week, which
will allow for dry and mild weather over the weekend.

As stated in previous discussions, what was supposed to be an early
week pattern shift has slowed down and will now be more of a mid-
week pattern shift. A shortwave will roll through the Pacific
Northwest early next week, causing temperatures to cool a few
degrees each day. Breezy southwesterly winds will pick up across the
area on Tuesday as another shortwave swings through central
California and central Nevada on Tuesday and Wednesday. Light
showers will be possible across our northern zones Tuesday and
Wednesday, with precipitation chances favoring areas of higher
terrain over valleys and lower elevations. Beyond Wednesday,
troughiness looks to continue across the Western US through the end
of the week as we continue to find ourselves in a more unsettled
weather pattern.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds
will follow typical diurnal directional patterns through tomorrow,
with speeds generally remaining under 8 knots. Clouds will continue
to increase overnight, with CIGs lowering to around 10kft AGL by
late tonight. A few VCSH are possible from 12Z to 16Z; however, the
best chance of precipitation reaching the ground will be west of the
terminal area, near the Spring Mountains. CIGs will improve by
Friday afternoon, with bases rising to around 20kft AGL.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Across most of the area,
winds will remain around 5 to 10 knots and follow typical diurnal
directional patterns through Friday. Mid-level and high clouds will
continue to increase overnight, with bases falling to 10 to 15kft
AGL by morning. A few scattered showers are possible late tonight
through tomorrow morning, mainly over the higher elevations of
southeast California and southern Nevada. The lowest CIGs are still
expected near KBIH, where bases may fall as low as 4kft AGL before
daybreak. Sky conditions will gradually improve from south to north
by Friday afternoon.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
